Granite Worktop FAQ's:

How long does it take?
Typically from the point of template to the time of installation it is 7 days. However, we endeavor to finish the worktops as quickly as possible. We offer an express service where worktops can be fully installed in 24 or 48hrs from the time of template. This service does depend on your location and colour choice.

How much is the deposit?
We typically ask for between 25-50% of the total invoice as a deposit depending on the size and value of the job. The remainder is only payable after installation once you are completely satisfied with all work carried out.

Do I have to be present?
To do the template we only need somebody present whether that is yourself or a builder or a family member. On Installation we require you to be there to inspect the worktops and to sign off to say you are happy. Only then we will ask for the remainder of the balance.

How heavy is Granite?
Solid Granite is quite heavy around 85kgs per metre and DOMOSTONE strongly recommend all customers to check and confirm with the unit manufacturer that your units will support Granite worktops.

What preparations should I make?
We ask that you have all units in place and preferably have your sink so we can take it away whilst the worktops are being cut and polished. All units should be level and extra supports should be provided around empty spaces for appliances, cut outs, sinks and hobs. Old worktops, taps and sinks should be removed. Support batons should be placed at the back of all void spaces where appliances are to be. Batons in front and at the back of the unit where the sink is to be placed would be needed and all units should be secure and ready to accept the worktops.

Sockets and Splashbacks?
Walls which you require splashback on should be perfectly level and re-plastered if necessary. We would recommend relocating any sockets which would save money in extra cutting charges and also look aesthetically more pleasing. However, socket holes can be cut out and would be measured and noted during templating.

What is the maximum length of a worktop?
The maximum length of your worktops is dependant on which and how many cut outs are needed especially in softer granites with larger crystals. The maximum length will also depend on access to the area for installation and any recommendations, joins or weight issues will be discussed at the templating stage.

What if I want to template and fit?
If you would just like us to cut and polish then that's no problem. We would need exact measurements including cut outs and polished edges.

Delivery?
Delivery is included in the price for all full jobs. For jobs where we are simply cutting and polishing the worktops a delivery charge will be added depending on location.
